Since November 2000 Yannis Pachygiannis is member of the Body of Inspectors of the Ministry of Labour where he serves as Technical Inspector of OSH in the Centre for the Prevention of Danger at Work - Athens and Crete, situated in Athens.

From this position he is dealing with all matters having to do with the prevention of dangers in the course of all working processes and activities in the area of Athens aiming to the advancement of safety and health in working environments.

His activities include:

•   The inspection of all kinds of companies activated in the area of Athens in order to detect their compliance to the OSH legislation,
•   The asistance of companies and individuals through informative and advisory work,
•   The consultation during debates between employers and workers on OSH matters in order to secure the colaboration and an optimum result on OSH matters,
•   The investigation of accidents at work which is a research aiming to determin the causes of the accidents (and not to indicate the people that may be responsible which - in Greece - is work of the police and the justice).

He dealt with safety and health at work as well as with the detection and treatment of dangers at works in working environments such as the Construction Areas of the stadiums, fields and the other installations for the Olympics of Athens, Underground Constructions for the Metro lines, Industries, Ship Yards etc.

Circumstantial reference of charged duties: Inspections from the beginning to the end of all stages of the following works:

Metro Line connecting Sepolia and Peristeri with terminals, stations and intersections,
International Broadcasting Center (IBC),
All stages of the construction projects for the shelters of the Olympic stadiums (design projects of Calatrava),
Olympic Center of Gymnastics - Galatsi, etc.

In the course of his work he investigated more than 500 accidents at work, the variety of which offers experience on a great range of dangers or potential dangers of all types of activities.
