Giannis Pachygiannis has his family's roots in Laconia. He was born in Athens in 1969. His father was Georgios Pachygiannis, lawyer and his mother is Fanny Pachygianni - Kaloudi, archaeologist. He has a sister, Afrodite Pachygianni, civil engineer. He lives, with his wife, Eleonora Soukouroglou - health inspector, her two children, Sophia and Chronis, and their younger son Giorgos, in Glyfada - Attika.

Studied Architecture in Aristotles University of Thessalonica and continued with postgraduate studies in the Bartlett - UCL, London. He served in the Martial Navy. Participated in research programs, worked in the private sector and since November 2000 he is a Safety and Health Inspector of the Body of Inspectors (SEPE) of Ministry of Employment and Social Protection. He is twice elected in the delegation of Architectural Association (SADAS) and is also elected member of the Board of the Association of Safety and Health Inspectors - Employees of Ministry of Employment and Social Protection.
